Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics 2026 to Spotlight Sustainable Material Innovation at Econogy Hub

As sustainability and material innovation continue to influence sourcing decisions, Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition will place a renewed focus on environmentally responsible textile solutions through its dedicated Econogy Hub.

Scheduled to take place from 25 – 27 August 2026 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), the exhibition will provide a sourcing platform for the global apparel textile industry while addressing changing priorities driven by shifting energy markets and increased adoption of renewable and recycled materials.

With synthetic fibres accounting for around 60% of global fibre consumption, manufacturers and brands are increasingly diversifying raw material strategies and incorporating renewable and recycled inputs into mainstream production. The industry is placing greater emphasis on material performance, product differentiation and supply stability.

Econogy Hub to Showcase Sustainable Textile Solutions

The Econogy Hub will bring together certifiers and standards organisations, fibre producers, manufacturers, mills and technology providers, presenting scalable solutions that align with recognised sustainability frameworks.

The zone is designed to highlight the relationship between ecological responsibility and commercial performance while facilitating direct interaction between exhibitors and sourcing professionals as part of the exhibition's broader sustainability framework.

Previous editions featured innovations including bio-based dyes, waterless dyeing technologies, advanced cellulosic fibres, bio-based leather alternatives, and high-performance recycled yarns from international companies such as Birla, Hyosung, Lenzing, LYCRA, Nilit and Unifi.

Featured Exhibitors

Among the exhibitors confirmed for the upcoming edition are:

  • Haelixa AG (Switzerland), which provides DNA-based traceability solutions enabling textile brands to verify material authenticity from fibre to finished garment. Using natural DNA markers, the company supports transparent supply chains for materials including organic cotton and cashmere. Its technology is currently used by international brands including C&A, OVS and Hugo Boss, with over 30 million garments traced in 2024.
  • Hong Kong ZAKER New Material Technology, which specialises in advanced material innovation, will present its Rborne polyurethane platform, developed for scalable, high-performance plant-based leather applications designed to support commercial adoption of bio-based alternatives.

Expanded Sustainability Initiatives

The exhibition's Econogy Finder programme will identify verified sustainable exhibitors throughout the fairground, with more than 100 approved suppliers participating in the upcoming edition. The initiative is intended to improve sourcing transparency and help buyers locate sustainable suppliers across multiple product categories.

Visitors will also have access to the Econogy Tour, which will guide attendees to selected exhibitors aligned with current sustainability and compliance priorities.

In addition, Econogy Talks will feature forums and seminars covering developments in sustainable materials and industry trends, while the Econogy Hub Display Area will present selected sustainable products and material innovations showcased during the exhibition.

Specialised Sourcing Zones

Alongside the Econogy Hub, the exhibition will feature several specialised sourcing areas, including the Premium Wool Zone, highlighting high-quality wool fabrics for suiting applications.

Other dedicated zones include Accessories Vision, Beyond Denim, Essential Suits & Shirts, Functional Lab, Innovation & Digital Solutions Zone, SalonEurope, and Verve for Design, reflecting a wide range of apparel textile sourcing requirements.

The fair is co-organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT, and the China Textile Information Center. It will be held alongside Yarn Expo Autumn, CHIC, and PH Value, bringing together the full apparel textile value chain at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai).

Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition will take place from 25 – 27 August 2026.

The next scheduled event is the Vietnam International Trade Fair for Apparel, Textiles and Textile Technologies, to be held from 24 – 26 February 2027 in Ho Chi Minh City.
