Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics 2026 to Spotlight Pet Textiles and Climate-Adaptive Innovations

Autumn Edition to feature functional textiles, sustainability solutions, smart technologies and expanded sourcing zones

Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition 2026 will take place from 25–27 August 2026 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), with a renewed focus on pet textiles, climate-adaptive innovations, sustainability, and digital transformation within the apparel textile industry.

The event follows the 2025 edition, where more than 3,700 exhibitors from 26 countries and regions participated, attracting over 100,000 buyers from 123 countries and regions. Organisers stated that the upcoming edition will place greater emphasis on advanced functionality, sustainable materials, and next-generation textile technologies.

“In today’s evolving market landscape, buyers are looking for more than materials – they are looking for direction, innovation, and long-term partners,” said Ms Wilmet Shea, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. “Intertextile Apparel continues to evolve alongside the industry, expanding its showcase to address functional performance, sustainability priorities, and emerging product categories, catering to a wide range of buyer preferences – from the traditional to the unconventional.”

The 2026 edition will be structured around four industry themes: Fashion Forward, Performance Textiles, Sustainability, and Textile Future. Organisers stated that these themes will focus on trend forecasting, functional fabrics, sustainable textile solutions, and digital transformation technologies including AI-driven tools and smart textiles.

One of the key additions this year is the expansion of the Pet Boutique showcase, which will make its Autumn Edition debut after being introduced during the Spring Edition. The showcase is designed to bring together suppliers of fabrics and materials for pet clothing, accessories, and related textile applications. Organisers cited forecasts indicating that the global pet textile market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 5.6% through 2031, with Asia-Pacific projected to record the highest growth.

“Applying natural textile materials in the pet sector is still an emerging avenue. The primary role of this display area is to help the industry understand these materials and master their application methods,” said Mr Fred Wang, BD Manager for Functional Wear at Lenzing. “We aim to leverage Intertextile Apparel’s strong influence to attract more pet sector players through the Pet Boutique, while in the related Pet Forum I was honoured to discuss the applications of our natural fibres in the sector.”

The Functional Lab zone will also return with an expanded format that combines booth displays, product showcases, and seminars. Organisers stated that the zone will highlight climate-adaptive textiles, silver-age textile applications, and innovations in temperature and humidity regulation. The CUBE display area within the Functional Lab will introduce a new Product Presentation Series aimed at enabling exhibitors to present textile innovations directly to buyers and sourcing professionals.

Reflecting on the previous edition, Ms Zoe Zhang, Engineer at the Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA), said: “At the forum (Weaving the Future: Advancing Functional Textiles with Innovative Technologies), we joined forces with partners including Lenzing and Highsun to exchange our latest insights on functional textiles. The conversations continued well beyond the show floor – with several domestic manufacturers reaching out to us to explore collaboration on nanomaterial applications. Intertextile Apparel is a springboard for meaningful dialogue and cross-disciplinary innovation in the intelligent and sustainable development of functional textiles.”

The exhibition will also feature dedicated sourcing zones including Accessories Vision, Beyond Denim, Essential Suits & Shirts, Innovation & Digital Solutions Zone, Premium Wool Zone, SalonEurope, and Verve for Design.

The fair is co-organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT, and the China Textile Information Center. It will be held alongside Yarn Expo Autumn, CHIC, and PH Value at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai).
