Innovate Textile Awards 2025 Honor Industry-Changing Innovations
WTiN celebrates breakthrough technologies and sustainable leadership at the 2025 Innovate Textile Awards.
This year’s virtual ceremony recognised pioneering materials, transformative products, advanced manufacturing models, sustainability solutions, and outstanding changemakers in the global textile sector.
The global textile and apparel industry came together virtually to celebrate the Innovate Textile Awards 2025, an annual showcase hosted by the World Textile Information Network (WTiN) that honours the technologies, products, and visionaries setting new standards for innovation and sustainability across the sector.
This year’s ceremony recognised standout achievements across five defining categories—Material Innovation, Product Innovation, Manufacturing & Supply Chain Innovation, Sustainability, and Changemakers—before revealing the evening’s top honour, the Innovation of the Year Award.
Hosting the ceremony, Madelaine Thomas, Head of Content at WTiN, praised the remarkable calibre of submissions:
"The level of innovation we have witnessed this year has been truly overwhelming. Our winners represent the cutting edge of textile technology and sustainable practice, demonstrating that the future of our industry is bright, responsible and highly functional."
Material Innovation Award
Outlast Technologies claimed the Material Innovation Award for its groundbreaking Aersulate fabric, which harnesses a natural wax-based mechanism to create a self-regulating microclimate.
The judges observed:
"This material shows remarkable potential to redefine textile insulation. Its innovative mechanism for creating a self-regulating microclimate is truly impressive. Overall, this is an outstanding entry with clear capacity to disrupt the market."
Product Innovation Award
The Product Innovation Award went to Tandem Repeat for Sonachic, a collection of luxury basics featuring Procell™ Fibre, a material produced from fermented proteins.
The judging panel applauded the company’s forward-thinking approach:
"Their commitment to reducing environmental impact through innovative material choices is commendable and their forward-thinking approach demonstrates how creativity and science can come together to shape a more sustainable fashion industry."
Manufacturing & Supply Chain Innovation Award
RoLL (Robotics Living Lab) was recognised for its transformative role in reshoring, nearshoring, and small-batch garment production for UK SMEs. Through advanced robotics and designer-led collaboration, RoLL is helping modernise local manufacturing ecosystems.
The judges noted:
"RoLL positions itself at the forefront of this expanding sector by enabling innovation through advanced robotics. Its designer-led, collaborative robotic systems provide a practical model for sustainable, small-batch and high-value garment production."
Sustainability Award
The Sustainability Award was presented to Canapa Paper Technologies for DT Paper, a sustainable paper-based alternative that eliminates PET film in textile printing.
According to the judging panel:
"There is a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions and energy consumption when using Canapa paper instead of a traditional transfer film, highlighting its strong environmental advantage. This shift not only lowers the carbon footprint but also supports more sustainable production practices across the supply chain."
Changemaker Award
The Changemaker Award honoured Emtec Electronic GmbH, recognised for manufacturing portable devices that allow textile producers to objectively measure and digitally analyse textile hand feel—supporting greater process control and optimisation across manufacturing operations.
Innovation of the Year Award
The evening concluded with the most coveted honour: the Innovation of the Year Award, presented to Yulex for YULASTIC – FROM THE TREE.
As the judges stated:
"This new biobased elastic is different from the other biobased spandex alternatives as in that it does not come from corn; its commercial readiness makes it a true winner!"
