Indorama Ventures has introduced Trevira® flame-retardant fibres and filament yarns containing recycled textile material, enabling fabric producers to manufacture Trevira CS Eco fabrics with a higher level of circularity while maintaining permanent flame-retardant performance for interior applications.

Indorama Ventures, a global sustainable chemical company, has taken a further step toward circular textile production for residential and public spaces. The company now offers Trevira® flame-retardant fibres and filament yarns made with 50% recycled textile content, supporting the development of a more sustainable version of the established Trevira CS fabric.

The new Trevira® flame-retardant fibres and yarns were first presented to customers during the Heimtextil trade fair held in mid-January in Frankfurt, Germany. The offering is intended to support fabric manufacturers seeking to increase recycled content while continuing to meet the performance requirements associated with permanently flame-retardant textiles.

Jesper Nielsen, Global Key Account Manager Flame Retardancy at Indorama Ventures, explained that the development has been made possible through the company’s joint venture with Jiaren Chemical Recycling. The recycling company processes textile waste from both consumers and industry to produce recycled polyester chips. These chips are then used by Indorama Ventures to manufacture its high-modified Trevira® flame-retardant fibres and filament yarns.

According to Nielsen, customers who use these fibres and yarns to produce fabrics can apply for the Trevira CS Eco brand. This allows manufacturers to demonstrate their commitment to circularity while retaining the permanent flame-retardant performance for which the Trevira CS fabric brand has been recognised since 1980.

Indorama Ventures announced its partnership with Jiaren Chemical Recycling in November 2025. The collaboration reflects the company’s ambition to support textile circularity at scale. The newly available textile-recycled Trevira® flame-retardant fibres and yarns are one of the outcomes of this partnership and are intended to enable more resource-efficient textile production without affecting comfort or safety.
