Global industry participation and policy support drive focus on recycling, sustainability, and waste management

Indo Waste & Recycling 2026 Expo & Forum continues to develop as a platform connecting Indonesia’s waste management and recycling sectors with international stakeholders. The event facilitates interaction among industry participants, innovators, and decision-makers to address environmental and sustainability challenges.

Indonesia’s plastic and waste management sectors are undergoing structural changes amid shifts in global petrochemical supply chains. Disruptions in naphtha supply have influenced global markets, while Indonesia’s industry performance remains supported by domestic demand. Data from the Industrial Confidence Index (IKI) in March 2026 indicates that the packaging subsector is in an expansionary phase, reflecting ongoing production activity.

The government has introduced measures to maintain supply continuity and support industry development. As stated by Minister of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, “the government encourages greater use of high-quality recycled plastics as a substitute supply to maintain stock stability in the market.” These measures include diversification of raw material sources and the use of alternative feedstocks such as Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).

Indo Waste & Recycling is expanding its international engagement through participation in an exhibition focused on plastic and rubber industries in Shanghai from 21–24 April 2026. The visit aims to connect with exhibitors, assess technologies, and explore collaboration with industry participants.

The 2026 edition of Indo Waste & Recycling is scheduled to take place from 11–13 August 2026 at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, Indonesia. The event will be held alongside Indo Water, Indo Renergy & Electric, Indo Security, Indo Firex, and IISMEX (Indonesia International Smart City Expo & Forum), bringing multiple sectors together within a single platform.
