India’s Textile and Apparel Exports Show Mixed Performance in April–June 2026

Textile exports recorded growth while apparel shipments declined during the first quarter amid West Asia crisis and higher raw material costs.

India’s textile and apparel exports witnessed mixed trends during the first quarter of 2026–27, as the West Asia crisis and rising raw material costs continued to impact the sector. While textile exports registered year-on-year growth, apparel exports declined during the same period.

India’s textile and apparel exports continued to be affected by the West Asia crisis and increased raw material costs during the first quarter of 2026–27, according to industry data.

During the April–June 2026 period, textile exports recorded a 5.19% increase compared with the corresponding period of the previous year. In contrast, apparel exports declined by 12.44% over the same period.

The combined export of textiles and apparel during April–June 2026 registered a 2.95% de-growth compared with April–June 2025.

Referring to June 2026 performance, the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) stated:

“During June 2026, textile exports increased by 9.64% over the previous year, while apparel exports registered a de-growth of -11.25%,” said the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry.

The industry body further noted that the combined export of textile and apparel during June 2026 recorded a marginal year-on-year growth of 0.21%.
