India Textile Exports Grow 2.1% to ₹3.16 Lakh Crore in FY26

India’s textile exports recorded a 2.1% year-on-year increase in FY 2025–26, reaching ₹3,16,334.9 crore, according to data released by the Ministry of Textiles on April 22, 2026. The growth reflects stable performance across key segments despite global trade challenges.

India’s textile sector reported total exports, including handicrafts, of ₹3,16,334.9 crore in FY 2025–26, compared to ₹3,09,859.3 crore in FY 2024–25, marking a 2.1% increase. According to the Ministry of Textiles, the sector “continued to demonstrate resilience in global markets during FY 2025–26.”

Ready-made garments remained the largest contributor, with exports rising 2.9% to ₹1,39,349.6 crore in FY26 from ₹1,35,427.6 crore in the previous year.

Exports of cotton yarn, fabrics, made-ups, and handloom products recorded marginal growth of 0.4%, reaching ₹1,02,399.7 crore compared to ₹1,02,002.8 crore in FY25.

Man-made yarn, fabrics, and made-ups showed relatively stronger growth, increasing 3.6% to ₹42,687.8 crore from ₹41,196.0 crore. Among value-added segments, handicrafts excluding handmade carpets grew 6.1% to ₹15,855.1 crore from ₹14,945.5 crore.

The Ministry also noted expansion in export destinations, with growth recorded in more than 120 markets between April 2025 and February 2026 compared to the same period a year earlier. The release described this as a “broad-based geographical expansion in India’s textile export basket.”

Key markets recorded notable increases, including UAE (22.3%), UK (7.8%), Germany (9.9%), Spain (15.5%), and Japan (20.6%). Growth was higher in select African countries, with Egypt at 38.3%, Nigeria at 21.4%, Senegal at 54.4%, and Sudan at 205.6%.

The government attributed part of the export performance to ongoing policy measures, including the extension of the Rebate of State and Central Taxes and Levies (RoSCTL) Scheme and the RoDTEP Scheme beyond March 31, 2026.

Trade agreements also progressed during FY 2025–26. The India–EFTA TEPA came into force on October 1, 2025. The India–UK CETA was signed in July 2025, followed by the India–Oman CEPA in December 2025. The India–New Zealand FTA was announced on December 22, 2025, and the India–EU FTA was concluded on January 27, 2026.

These agreements are expected to improve market access, reduce tariffs, strengthen supply chains, and support growth across textiles, apparel, handicrafts, and technical textiles.
