India Reclaims Civilizational Values to Drive Economic Growth: Shri Hardeep Puri

Speaking at a thought-provoking seminar hosted by the Shaheed Nanak Singh Foundation in New Delhi, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri emphasized India’s resurgence through civilizational values, asserting they are now a cornerstone of the country’s economic progress.
Delivering the keynote at the seminar titled "Honouring Those Who Honour India," Shri Puri credited India’s cultural revival and resilience as key drivers of national pride and prosperity. He highlighted the significant contributions of refugees, stating, “India’s progress has been profoundly shaped by those who endured immense hardships, and their integration reflects our deep-rooted civilizational ethos. These values, reclaimed and celebrated, now serve as a source of national confidence and economic advancement.”
The seminar commemorated the life and legacy of Shaheed Nanak Singh, who gave his life to safeguard students during the partition-era communal unrest in 1947 at DAV College, Multan. His actions exemplified the spirit of unity and harmony.
Lord Rami Ranger FRSA, a UK House of Lords member and son of the martyr, reflected on his father’s role during India's partition, praising his efforts in fostering interfaith solidarity. “The strength and continuity of Indian civilization lie in unity. Disunity invited invasions, but unity secured our heritage. That is the legacy we must honor,” he remarked.
Mr. Vineet Nanda, General Secretary of the Foundation, stressed the importance of acknowledging Indians who uphold and enhance the nation’s image globally, especially as India's voice gains prominence on the world stage.
The event was graced by several eminent personalities, including Col. Kulwinder Singh (son of Shaheed Nanak Singh), Mr. Ravindra Sheroan, Mr. Navneet Soni, former Minority Commission Chairman Mr. Tarlochan Singh, MP Mr. Vivek Tankha, and other notable bureaucrats and public figures.
