Since prices keep falling, the North Indian cotton yarn market is still portraying a negative tone. Prices have decreased by $2 per kg in Ludhiana while remaining steady in Delhi and Panipat. A reduction in cotton prices frustrated purchasers who were hoping for a decrease in yarn pricing, therefore shoppers were generally wary about making new purchases in north India.
After a drop in the price of the natural fibre, Ludhiana’s cotton yarn costs also decreased by $2 per kg, with slower demand pressuring stockists and traders to lower costs. “Due to little demand, cotton yarn prices further declined. Exporters were purchasing cotton yarn to meet their obligations, but they reduced fresh purchases as the price of the an organic fibre. According to TexPro, a market research tool from 30 count cotton carded yarn was observed at 260-270 per kg, 20 and 25 count combed yarn were traded at 270-280 per kg and 275-285 per kg, respectively, while 20 count cotton combed yarn was sold lower by 2 at 280-290 per kg (GST inclusive).
The cotton yarn market in Delhi remained constant, with buyers remaining cautious as a result of the weak consumer demand. The Delhi market dealer said ,”Customers were just making purchases to meet urgent demands. The downstream industry lacked confidence in consumer demand. Buyers were not in a rush because cotton prices are not going to rise in the near future.”
30 count combed yarn cost between 285 and 290 rupees in Delhi. 40 count combed yarn was priced between $315 and $320 per kg (including GST). According to TexPro, 30 count carded yarn was noted at $266–270 per kg and 40 count carded yarn at $295–300 per kg.
Due to weak demand and a downturn in the home furnishings industry until June, the recycled yarn market in Panipat remained stable. According to a Panipat-based trade source, the demand is not anticipated to increase for several months. In this market, 10s recycled PC yarn (grey) was sold for between 88 and 92 (plus GST) per kilogramme, whereas 10s recycled PC yarn (black) was sold for between 60 and 65 (plus GST). Grey recycled PC yarn in the 20s and 30s was marketed for between 105 and 110. per kilogramme and between $150 and $155 per kg. Comber costs were reported at between $155 and $160 per kg, whilst recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) was marketed for between $74 and $77 per kg.
After a drop in ICE cotton and crude oil prices, North India’s cotton prices have generally decreased today. The cost of cotton has decreased by 25 rupees a maund (37.2 lb) in upper Rajasthan, with the natural fibre now going for 500 rupees less per candy (356 kg). Cotton was sold for between Rs. 6,100 and Rs. 6,200 per maund in Punjab and Haryana, and between Rs. 6,300 and Rs. 6,375 in upper Rajasthan. In lower Rajasthan, cotton was priced between 58,500 and 60,500 per candy weighing 356 kg. There were 15,000 170 kg bales of cotton expected to have arrived in North India.
