India’s FTA Negotiation With Canada Is In “Advanced Stage”

A senior official from the commerce ministry said on Wednesday that the next round of talks for the planned interim trade agreement (FTA) between India and Canada is anticipated to take place in April. In terms of products and services as well as other areas, negotiations are progressed, according to Krishan Kumar, Joint Secretary for the Department of Commerce.

“The last six rounds are over. April might be the month for the seventh round “He told the local reporters. Regarding the status of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) negotiations, it was disclosed that at the special round conducted here in February, text-based discussions under the IPEF pillars of supply chain, clean economy, and fair economy were fruitful and constructive.

At the moment, the Indian team is taking part in the second round of negotiations taking place in Bali. spanning March 13–19.
