The Indian International Textile Machinery Exhibitions Society (India ITME Society) successfully hosted the second day of the Global Textile Technology and Engineering Show (GTTES 2025) at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon (East), Mumbai. This premier three-day event (February 21-23) continues to serve as a vital platform for India’s textile industry, fostering global cooperation and technological advancement.
Chhattisgarh Investment Summit Drives Growth
The day commenced with the Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation Ltd Investment Summit, held in the B2B Pavilion. This initiative focused on attracting investments and promoting business opportunities in the textile sector. Chhattisgarh’s potential as a major textile hub was highlighted, with discussions centered on the state’s business-friendly policies, abundant resources, and infrastructural advantages.

Ketan Sanghvi, Chairman and Steering Committee Member of India ITME Society, emphasized the significance of the newly launched Industrial Development Policy 2024-2030, expressing confidence in its role in shaping future industry collaborations and technological advancements.
Chhattisgarh’s Growing Textile Industry
Praveen Shukla underscored the state’s crucial role in India’s textile economy, stating:
- $35.9 billion in textile exports over 24 years
- 2.3% contribution to India’s GDP and 10.5% to national exports
- Power surplus state, supplying electricity to 13 other states, ensuring uninterrupted industrial operations
- Emerging textile hub, with significant exports in cotton, silk, and man-made fabrics, along with an upcoming textile park in Jangir Champa
- Over 25,000 MSMEs and 1,400+ DPIT-registered startups, fostering a thriving business ecosystem
MOUs Foster Innovation and Industry Growth
A series of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) were signed between leading industry players, including the Asian Arab Chamber of Commerce, aimed at boosting innovation and investment in the textile sector.
Murtuza Shabbir Arsiwala, Honorary Trade Commissioner of the Asian Arab Chamber of Commerce, stated, “We have successfully enhanced bilateral trade and cross-border investments in Asia and the Middle East. Textiles always remain a key area of focus, and we look forward to expanding our work with India’s textile industry.”
Promoting Sustainability: “Threads of Transformation” Initiative
A collaborative initiative titled “Threads of Transformation” was conducted by Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Textile Committee, HSNC, C4C SBI Foundation, and TISSER. This session emphasized post-consumer textile recycling, supporting over 200 artisan communities across 25+ states in India and promoting traditional crafts while encouraging sustainable practices.
Sustainable Fashion Takes Center Stage
The day concluded with a Recycled, Upcycled & Sustainable Fashion Art & Fashion Show, showcasing innovative solutions to textile waste. This event, curated by skilled artisans, reinforced the message of sustainability while celebrating cultural craftsmanship.
B2B Pavilion: A Hub for Business and Collaboration
Throughout the event, the B2B Pavilion provided a dynamic environment for networking, collaboration, and discussions on industry trends. It facilitated crucial engagements between domestic and international stakeholders, enhancing India’s presence in the global textile machinery industry.
