India’s RIL raises PTA and MELT rates while leaving MEG unchanged.

The largest participant in the polyester value chain in India, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), has raised the costs of MELT and Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA), but has maintained the costs of MEG. After two weeks, the corporation increased the pricing for these two important upstream raw supplies.

Market reports claim that PTA has been fixed at 81.70 rupees per kilogram (up 0.50), MEG at 57.10 rupees per kilogram (unchanged), and MELT at 89.74 rupees per kilogram (up 0.43). Beginning the next Saturday, raw materials for polyester will be priced. The company had maintained the pricing of polyester staple fiber (PSF) at 106 per kg at the start of current fortnight.

RIL examines changes in crude prices and Chinese price trends. raw ingredients for polyester are priced using oil. Reliance is the dominant company in India, thus the market follows its pricing trends.
