The Telangana government’s long-standing desire to establish a major textile park in the State has now been taken into consideration by the BJP-led Centre.
On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that a giant textile park would be built across Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh as part of PM MITRA (Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel). The other five States where these parks are being built are BJP-ruled, with the exception of Tamil Nadu and Telangana. For these parks, which are divided into Greenfield and Brownfield, the Center would provide 51% of the funding; the remaining amount would be the responsibility of the corresponding State governments.
Handlooms Minister KT Rama Rao and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had personally pleaded with the Prime Minister to The Telangana government’s efforts over the past six years have finally paid off with the announcement by the federal government that a massive textile park will be built there.
