Sand city – A collaborative mural art project, designed by a Carmelite nonagenarian and created by a Seaside artist, has been unveiled to the public as a farewell gift to Sand City to enjoy. “I think it brings a smile to your soul,” said Sand City Art Foundation founding member Kayhan Ghodsi. The research called “Trees of Sand Town” is the home of Central Coast artist Eleen Auvil and Seaside.
Auvil, 95, is an experienced sculptor with a career as a sculptor for the past 30 years. Her materials include bronze, copper, stone, wood, handmade paper, and mixed media, showcasing her eclectic designs and techniques. Auvil is also a fashion designer and graphic designer best known for her exclusive monotypes. She has a special dual status as a member of the Artist Association, having sworn in.
