Jakob Müller Group Streamlines Operations for Future Success

The Jakob Müller Group (JMG), a global leader in narrow fabric machinery, is actively implementing its JMG 2030 strategy to strengthen market leadership, enhance agility in a dynamic industry, and align more closely with customer needs. The strategy includes streamlined corporate structures, product portfolio adjustments, a new acquisition, and targeted customer initiatives. These measures reinforce JMG’s market position and lay the foundation for sustainable growth.

Strengthening Market Leadership Through Strategic Measures

The Swiss industrial landscape and the global textile machinery sector are evolving, and JMG is responding with a series of initiatives to maintain its leadership and drive long-term expansion. The company is investing in modernizing its product portfolio, optimizing internal processes, and enhancing customer collaboration. Key steps include:

  • Creation of innovative customer collaboration platforms
  • Expansion of the product portfolio in the volume segment
  • Optimization of service offerings
  • Simplification of corporate and management structures

Focus on Core Competencies and Operational Excellence

JMG is sharpening its focus on key segments, including Weaving, Label Production Systems, Warp Crochet Knitting, and Dyeing & Finishing. However, the Winding & Making-up and Warping Systems segments at JMG’s Schwelm, Germany site will be phased out, with essential technologies integrated elsewhere. Additionally, the Finishing segment will be relocated from Kadan, Czech Republic, to JMG’s sister company, Benninger, in Pune, India. This transition will result in structural adjustments at German and Czech locations, leading to a gradual reduction in production.

Stephan Bühler, Owner of JMG, states: “Although these decisions were difficult, they are essential for securing the Jakob Müller Group’s future. Our resources must be directed toward areas with the highest growth potential.”

Andreas Conzelmann, CEO of JMG, adds: “By focusing on our core segments, we are enhancing our innovation capabilities and competitiveness, ensuring we continue to deliver the best solutions to our customers.”

Unified Brand Identity and Global Expansion

JMG is further integrating COMEZ, a leading Italian manufacturer of crochet and warp knitting machines, under the new name Jakob Müller Italy. Additionally, the company has acquired MEI International, a well-known Italian label weaving machine manufacturer. This acquisition will support next-generation solutions and expand JMG’s offerings, including innovative air-jet technology. More details on the MEI acquisition will be shared in a separate announcement.

Enhancing Customer Experience and Innovation

At the core of the JMG 2030 strategy is a commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences. Investments in innovation and operational excellence will enable:

  • Faster turnaround times
  • State-of-the-art solutions
  • Enhanced service offerings

To support this, JMG will open a new Customer Center and LAB1887 in Frick, Switzerland, in late summer 2025. This cutting-edge innovation hub will facilitate collaboration between JMG and customers to develop novel applications for narrow fabrics.

Andreas Conzelmann emphasizes: “Our JMG 2030 strategy reflects our commitment to long-term stability, sustainable growth, and maintaining our leadership in the narrow fabric industry. The changes we are implementing will make us a more agile, customer-centric company, ready to embrace future opportunities.”
