AEPC Celebrates 47 Years of Strengthening India’s Apparel Exports

The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) marked its 47th Foundation Day at its headquarters in Gurugram, reaffirming its commitment to driving India’s apparel exports forward. The milestone event was celebrated with enthusiasm, featuring a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and cake-cutting, attended by senior functionaries and staff members.

AEPC’s Contribution to Apparel Export Growth

Reflecting on AEPC’s journey, Chairman Shri Sudhir Sekhri emphasized that completing 47 successful years is a testament to AEPC’s pivotal role in championing the interests of the apparel industry and exporters.

“AEPC has consistently engaged with the government and industry stakeholders to promote, protect, and advance the Ready-Made Garment (RMG) sector. Our relentless efforts to align with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision are yielding strong results, with India’s apparel exports showing an impressive growth of 11.6% in April–January 2024-25, despite global challenges,” said Shri Sekhri.

Surge in Apparel Exports to Key Global Markets

AEPC’s Secretary General, Shri Mithileshwar Thakur, highlighted the steady expansion of Indian apparel exports in major international markets:
✔ USA: +13.8%
✔ UK: +8.9%
✔ Germany: +10.6%
✔ Spain: +19.7%

Additionally, significant growth has been recorded in both traditional and emerging FTA partner nations like South Korea, Japan, Australia, Mauritius, and UAE.

Government’s Key Initiatives Fueling Sector Growth

On this occasion, AEPC expressed gratitude to the Government of India, particularly Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Textiles Minister Shri Giriraj Singh, and Commerce & Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal, for their unwavering support. Several policy initiatives have bolstered the industry, including:
✔ PM MITRA & PLI schemes – Boosting domestic textile production
✔ RoSCTL & FTAs with UAE & Australia – Enhancing India’s global trade footprint
✔ Export Promotion Mission & Bharat-Trade-Net – Streamlining export documentation
✔ MSME Support & Skilling Programs – Strengthening industry competitiveness

AEPC’s Vision for 2025-26

Looking ahead, AEPC aims to expand India’s global apparel footprint by:
✔ Exploring new & non-traditional markets
✔ Promoting eco-friendly & sustainable manufacturing practices
✔ Encouraging market intelligence & capacity building
✔ Facilitating participation in international trade events

To raise awareness about its ongoing initiatives, AEPC has launched a social media campaign, highlighting its efforts in collaboration with the government to propel the apparel industry forward.

The Executive Committee of AEPC congratulated all employees and industry stakeholders on reaching another significant milestone and reaffirmed its commitment to driving the sector’s growth in the years ahead.
