In order to solve the problem of excessive water use and assist UN SDG-6, which is focused on clean water and sanitation, Vicunha Services, a division of the Vicunha Group, initiated the VSA project. The project intends to preserve rivers and water sources by reducing the company’s reliance on outside water sources by up to 90%.

The VSA project, which is situated in Ceará, Brazil, consists of the Industrial Effluent Treatment Plant and the Reuse Water Production Plant, two cutting-edge water treatment systems. The former treats municipal wastewater from Horizonte using dual filtering technology, while the latter employs physicochemical and biological methods to treat industrial wastewater.

With the assistance of Cagece, Ceará’s state water and sewage corporation, the $12 million project was created. For the project to be implemented more quickly and efficiently, this alliance was essential in acquiring funding, materials, and technical know-how.

Vicunha keeps putting sustainable growth first, even in 2024. Vicunha CEO Marcos De Marchi stressed the company’s dedication to alliances and cooperative ventures that improve sustainable practices and lessen the environmental effects of the textile sector. In the textile sector, Vicunha hopes to spearhead the transition to a more sustainable future.
