LANXESS has unveiled Vulkanox HS Scopeblue, a next-generation rubber additive designed to enhance tire sustainability and longevity. This innovative antioxidant, a sustainable version of the widely used Vulkanox HS (TMQ), helps tire manufacturers protect their products from the damaging effects of oxygen and heat while significantly reducing environmental impact.

A Greener Alternative for Tire Manufacturing

Vulkanox HS Scopeblue is composed of 55% sustainable raw materials, resulting in a 30% lower carbon footprint compared to its conventionally produced counterpart. This reduction is achieved through the use of bio-circular acetone and renewable energy in production. The mass-balanced product is manufactured at an ISCC PLUS-certified facility in Germany, ensuring high sustainability standards.

Seamless Integration for Manufacturers

One of the key advantages of Vulkanox HS Scopeblue is its drop-in compatibility, meaning tire manufacturers can incorporate it into existing production processes without modifications. With low volatility and minimal migration, the additive enhances tire durability while maintaining high-performance standards.

Commitment to Sustainability

Marketed under the LANXESS Scopeblue label, which represents products with a reduced carbon footprint or high circular raw material content, Vulkanox HS Scopeblue aligns with the industry’s growing demand for eco-friendly materials.

“With Vulkanox HS Scopeblue, we offer our customers a sustainable solution that extends tire lifespan while minimizing environmental impact,” said Dr. Holger Graf, Head of the Functional Tire Additives business line at LANXESS Rhein Chemie.

By integrating Vulkanox HS Scopeblue into their production, manufacturers can take a significant step toward a more sustainable future in tire manufacturing.
