At a recent gathering of the organization’s energy ministers, member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) decided to collaborate on developing fuels like hydrogen and ammonia as well as biofuels like ethanol. Also, they decided to take into account cooperative emerging fuel projects for tying major emerging fuel producing and consuming nations together.

China, Russia, and other countries will work with India in this move to develop new fuel technologies, model energy use, and achieve transitional goals. The planned Global Biofuel Alliance, which India is pushing, will be made available for signatures. India will formally launch the alliance with like-minded nations before the G20 leaders’ summit in September.

Following the meeting, Indian Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri stated that the SCO nations preferred to continue their involvement.
