Giorgio Armani Group and Christian Dior Italy are the subject of an inquiry by Italy’s competition commission because they are allegedly involved in unfair business practices. This comes after Milanese authorities recently discovered that its vendors had engaged in worker exploitation and abuse. According to the research, these high-end companies may have worked in factories that underpaid their workers—many of them were illegal immigrants—while they put in long hours and dangerous conditions.

The Armani and Dior Italy locations were inspected by the antitrust regulator, which was assisted by the special antitrust unit of the Italian financial police. The investigation is a result of past investigations that found violations of human rights at the firms’ contractors, leading to administrative proceedings for Giorgio Armani Operations and Manufacturers Dior, although no criminal charges were brought against them.

Armani denied the claims, reiterating its resolve to work with law enforcement and its optimism for a positive investigation’s conclusion. Dior admitted that frequent audits were unable to uncover the exploitative practices, but it still acknowledged the seriousness of the infractions and declared it would stop working with the contractors involved.

The inquiry emphasizes how important it is for luxury businesses to strengthen relationships with suppliers that are built on trust. Better production quality and sustainable practices from suppliers can result from effective communication, assistance, and regular orders from premium companies. In order to improve working conditions for individuals who contribute to Dior’s products, the company intends to incorporate production into its own ateliers.
