Frank And Oak, a Canadian-based, purpose-driven retailer, announced today its transition to a 100% responsible product assortment. The entire collection now contains either low-impact, cruelty-free, organic, biodegradable, or recycled fibres, or the products are manufactured using industry-leading technologies and processes. Along with this commitment, the brand has released its 2023 Brand Progress Report, which details its progress and accomplishments in material science, design for circularity, ethical production and increased transparency, carbon neutral delivery, and giving back.

Frank And Oak creates products in accordance with its mission to reduce its overall environmental impact and increase circularity. Beginning in 2023, all Frank And Oak products will use fabrics and/or manufacturing processes that have a lower environmental impact than traditional methods. This includes significant initiatives like such as removing virgin polyester from all products, ensuring that all buttons and labels are made from recycled materials, and designing all denim styles to be more easily recycled.

Frank And Oak prioritised mono-fibre and bi-fibre fabrications for circular economy products because they are easier to recycle than multi-fibre fabrications, which now account for less than 30% of their collection. Frank And Oak’s entire denim collection is now made entirely of Circular denimTM. This means that each pair is made with eco-friendly materials, reclaimed fibres, and no rivets. To support this initiative, the brand announced a partnership with Blue Jeans Go GreenTM in March 2022, collecting denim in all of their stores to be repurposed and recycled. Donated denim is recycled and distributed. new materials and products, such as pet bed inserts and thermal insulation, are given a second chance.

“As a modern lifestyle brand, we are committed to maintaining a leadership position in advancing this cause,” says Frank And Oak CEO Dustin Jones. “Our goal today is to create desirable, high-quality clothes that our customers want to wear while using the most environmentally friendly materials and processes available.” The design teams’ efforts towards more eco-conscious materials and processes are one of Frank And Oak’s key differentiators. To date, the company has been a pioneer in the use of distinctive sustainable fibres such as traceable Yak Wool, Seawool®, SeaCellTM, and Kapok.

Yak Wool is a naturally dyed and ethically sourced fibre.

Himalayan yak is as soft as cashmere and as warm as Merino wool.

Seawool® is a recycled polyester and upcycled oyster shell blend; SeaCellTM is a naturally derived seaweed blend; and Kapok is a vegan, biodegradable, and recyclable natural cellulose fibre found in the dried fruit of the kapok tree.

The brand’s tags, too, are made of biodegradable sugarcane paper and printed with soy-based inks. All of these materials are durable and stylish, bridging the gap between sustainability and fashion.

Frank And Oak enters a new era of commitment and transparency in 2023. The brand is committed to making a long-term positive impact on the fashion industry by investing in material science, circular designs, and providing customers with more sustainable options.
