Chief Minister of Chennai, M.K. Stalin has requested the union government to allow the State Industries Promotion Corporation of TamilNadu (SIPCOT) to be the master developer for the PM MITRA Park which will be build at Kumaralinapuram. The land ownership has a solid track record in the implementation of industrial parks.
The CM of TamilNadu wrote a letter to Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Industry and Commerce Piyush Goyal stating that, “I am sure that the southern districts of TamilNadu will greatly benefit from the development of the park”. The SIPCOT land already has 1052 acres of land in its possession. He further added by saying, “Most industries investing in TamilNadu also prefer to relocate in industrial parks developed by SIPCOT. On the other hand, the development of large industrial parks by private developers in TamilNadu has had limited success. The Government of TamilNadu strongly believes that implementing the PM Mitra Park through SIPCOT. This offers the greatest assurance of the successful achievement of the scheme objectives”.
SIPCOT has proved to be a holder od industrial parks with 28 industrial parks spread across 38,522 acres with 2890 companies and 3,94,785 employees.
