From April to February of the current fiscal year, Rajasthan’s exports climbed by more than 10%, with textiles, agro-food items, gems and jewellery, and engineering goods being the key contributors. The growth has a solid 36% increase from 2021–2022 as a base.

For 2022–2023, the Rajasthan Export Promotion Council (REPC) projects that the figures will total Rs 80,000 crore. From Rs 46,476 crore in 2018–19 to Rs 71,999 crore in 2021–22, the state’s exports have increased.

Rajiv Arora, chairman of REPC, stated exports from industries including agro-food goods, gems and jewellery, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, electronics, and computer software had increased by between 27 and 74% in the first 11 months of 2022–2023.

“We anticipate exports to be close to Rs 80,000 crores in the fiscal year 2022–2023. This is significant because the growth has a solid 36% expansion in 2021–2022 as a base, according to Arora.

He asserted that growth had reached double digits despite the state’s heavyweight industries, including textiles, marble and granite, and handicrafts, underperforming as a result of the economic downturn in western economies.

“We expect handicrafts, textiles, and dimensional stone to perform better, which is expected to take the exports well over the Rs 1 trillion mark in the next couple of years,” added Arora.

The chairman of REPC and Rajasthan Small-scale Industries Corporation stated during the conference on “Export Growth and Future Strategy of Rajasthan” that export units and related services employ more than 31 lakh people in the state. The state industries department of Rajasthan announced the “Mission Exporter Bano” plan in 2021 to increase exports from that state. More than 9,000 business owners, artists, and craftspeople from various districts, according to Arora, have received the requisite procedural and documentation training to enable them to become exporters. Import-export codes have been provided to them.

Mahendra Parakh, the industries commissioner, invited all exporters to join REPC and provided information on the state government’s programmes.By taking part in international expos and foreign exhibitions, the council is concentrating on branding and value addition.

Additionally, it wants to work with financial institutions and enter into contracts with e-commerce businesses and online sales platforms. The council recently held the Rajasthan International Expo in Jodhpur and is preparing to hold a similar event in Jaipur in September.
