ICAC 84th Plenary Meeting Set for March 2027 in Alexandria, Egypt
Global cotton and textile experts to discuss climate resilience, farmer participation, technology, sustainability and competitiveness
The International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) will hold its 84th Plenary Meeting from March 24–26, 2027, in Alexandria, Egypt. The three-day event will take place at the Rixos Montaza Alexandria Resort under the theme “Building a Resilient and Competitive Future for Cotton and Textiles.”
The local Organizing Committee in Egypt has selected the theme to guide discussions across the cotton and textile value chain. Registration for the plenary meeting will open soon, while detailed information on the programme and participation will be announced in due course.
Key Sessions Across the Cotton and Textile Value Chain
The 84th Plenary Meeting will feature sessions addressing technical, commercial, regulatory and sustainability-related developments in the cotton and textile sectors.
The programme will include:
- Technical Seminar on Climate-Resilient Cotton Varieties
- Encouraging Farmers to Grow Cotton
- Regulatory Developments Affecting Cotton and Textiles
- Technology, Quality and Competitiveness in Modern Textile Manufacturing
- Reports from the ICAC Secretariat
World Café to Focus on Environmental Impact
The conference will also include the World Café, an interactive format designed to give greater emphasis to participants’ views and ideas alongside presentations from speakers.
For 2027, the World Café will focus on “Reducing Environmental Impact Across the Cotton Value Chain.”
Additional sessions will examine regional cooperation and investment opportunities, sustainable and circular textile systems, digital solutions for farmers, risk management in cotton trade and logistics, and consumer trends influencing future cotton demand.
Technical Tour and Alexandria Visit
Following the 84th Plenary Meeting, participants will have the option to join a Technical Tour. The tour will include visits to Egyptian facilities involved in cotton research, production, processing and textile manufacturing, along with a cultural visit in Alexandria.
