Hillarys Enters India’s ₹10,000-Crore Window Coverings Market

Hunter Douglas Group Brand Introduces a Direct-to-Consumer Model Combining In-Home Design Consultation, Customisation and Installation

Hillarys, a Hunter Douglas Group company with more than 50 years of heritage in the UK, has entered India’s window-coverings market, valued at ₹10,000 crore. Announced on October 21, 2026, the launch introduces a direct-to-consumer (DTC) model designed to bring product selection, personalised design consultation and professional installation directly to customers’ homes.

The company aims to address changing consumer expectations around convenience, customisation and expert guidance in the home décor segment.

Shop-at-Home Model Connects Digital Services with Personalised Consultation

Hillarys’ service model centres on a shop-at-home (SAH) experience. Customers begin online, where a virtual design consultant understands their requirements and schedules a free in-home consultation.

A trained Hillarys Design Consultant then visits the customer with a selection of more than 1,500 fabrics and designs, allowing them to assess window-covering options within their own space. The company manages the process from measurements and made-to-measure production to professional installation.

Technology Supports the Customer Journey

Digital tools form an integral part of Hillarys’ operating model. These include digital lead generation, pincode-based mapping to connect customers with the nearest Design Consultant, tablet-enabled product selection and instant on-site quotations.

Consultation and visualisation tools help customers explore different fabrics and understand how window-covering solutions may suit their interiors.

Once an order is confirmed, customers receive updates covering procurement, tailoring, quality checks and dispatch. The company combines these digital processes with in-person consultation and installation services.

India Identified as a Strategic Market

Sivasubramanian S, Country Head – India WCP, Hunter Douglas Inc., said:

“More than five decades of experience have taught us that window coverings are never simply about the window. They influence how a space looks, feels and functions, and the process of choosing them should reflect that importance. As we build Hillarys in India, we see the country as the biggest strategic opportunity for our business. India’s evolving consumer environment, shaped by digital discovery, personalisation and changing expectations of the home, makes it an important market for us. Our direct-to-consumer model is designed to bring international expertise together with a more relevant, personalised experience for the modern Indian homeowner.”

The launch comes amid projected growth in India’s home décor market. According to a report by IMARC Group cited in the company’s announcement, the market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 5.18% during 2026–2034.

Bengaluru Operations and Project Experience

Hillarys has established its Indian base in Bengaluru, where it has completed more than 3,000 projects during its first 24 months in the city. Its local portfolio includes more than 2,500 fabrics.

The company has a 60-member India team covering sales, operations, technology, product, marketing and human resources.

Installations are currently offered within 15 working days from the final check measurement, subject to order confirmation and advance payment.

Expansion Plans for Hyderabad and Chennai

With Bengaluru serving as its initial market, Hillarys is preparing to expand into other Indian cities, with Hyderabad and Chennai next on its plans.

The company also intends to work with architects and interior designers through a customised architect and interior designer (AID) partnership model.

Through its planned expansion and service-led approach, Hillarys aims to establish a model for window coverings that brings together design consultation, technology, product customisation and installation.
