Heimtextil Makes Debut at Downtown Design Dubai, Showcasing Trends 27/28 by Alcova

First-time collaboration brings Heimtextil’s vision for functional, comfortable and design-led interiors to the Middle East’s design and hospitality community.

Heimtextil has partnered with Downtown Design for the first time to strengthen its presence in the Middle East’s interior design and hospitality sectors. In collaboration with Milan-based design platform Alcova, the trade fair is presenting the Heimtextil Trends 27/28, titled ‘The Performance of Everyday Living’, in Dubai from 4 to 8 November 2026.

The presentation features film, text and visual elements, offering international and regional design professionals insights into the key themes and creative directions shaping the upcoming trends.

Connecting International Design Perspectives with the Middle East

Downtown Design, the anchor event of Dubai Design Week, is recognised as the Middle East’s leading design fair. The region’s expanding hospitality and design sectors are gaining influence in the global interiors industry, supported by growing hotel and design projects that are creating demand for innovative spatial concepts, quality materials and textile solutions.

Through this partnership, Heimtextil aims to connect its international trend expertise with the region’s evolving design and hospitality requirements.

Exploring Heimtextil Trends 27/28

Developed by Alcova, the Heimtextil Trends 27/28 explore how interior spaces can deliver greater functionality while improving comfort and design quality.

Under the theme ‘The Performance of Everyday Living’, the trends examine how spaces can do more without placing additional demands on their users. The concept is relevant across residential interiors, hospitality environments and wider interior design applications.

Industry Perspectives on the Collaboration

Mette Degn-Christensen, Director, Downtown Design, said:

“Downtown Design stands for connectivity, relevance and quality: it is where the Middle East’s creative community comes together with the global design industry. This exchange connects international perspectives with the specific needs and experiences of the region’s design professionals. Heimtextil and Alcova bring complementary strengths in materials and craft-led experimentation – topics that are particularly relevant to our community at present – and combine them with a clear understanding of the commercial realities behind successful design.”

For Heimtextil, the Dubai presentation also represents a step towards building stronger relationships with the region’s design and hospitality sectors.

Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies, Messe Frankfurt, said:

“The Middle East is an important source of inspiration and momentum for interior design and hospitality. Dubai brings together an international design community, and in cooperation with Alcova, we are bringing our expertise in trends, materials and design to this audience. In doing so, we are taking Heimtextil’s themes beyond Frankfurt and connecting them with the perspectives of relevant partners in the Middle East.”
