Heimtextil 2027 to Focus on Textile Performance, Global Sourcing and Interior Design

Around 2,900 exhibitors are expected at the Frankfurt trade fair from 12 to 15 January 2027, with new premium carpet offerings, the Comfort & Connect area and the Heimtextil Trends 27/28.

Heimtextil 2027 will focus on textile quality, functionality, durability and global sourcing as manufacturers, buyers and interior professionals navigate changing market requirements and supply chain uncertainty. The international trade fair for home and contract textiles and textile design will take place from 12 to 15 January 2027 in Frankfurt, Germany.

The event will showcase products and developments across the textile value chain, from fibres and yarns to international textile design, finished collections, functional contract textiles and complete interior solutions. Around 2,900 exhibitors are expected to participate, maintaining the previous year's level.

Consumers are increasingly evaluating price, quality, functionality and durability, while geopolitical uncertainty continues to complicate international supply chain planning. Against this backdrop, Heimtextil aims to connect buyers with manufacturers and production partners capable of meeting specified quality and volume requirements.

Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt, said, “In a market that is increasingly difficult to predict, quality, reliability and strong personal relationships matter. At Heimtextil, trade visitors experience materials first-hand, discuss their requirements directly with manufacturers and find production partners capable of delivering the volumes they need. This combination of product experience, an international offering and personal exchange makes Heimtextil a reliable strategic partner for the industry – especially in a challenging market,”

Heimtextil Trends 27/28 Explore Textile Performance and Everyday Living

Under the theme “Home-Maxxing – The Performance of Everyday Living”, Heimtextil and Milan-based design platform Alcova will explore how spaces can deliver greater functionality without placing additional demands on the people using them.

The Heimtextil Trends 27/28 will present three approaches to textile and surface design:

  • Staged Competence: Uses codes, numbers and micrographics to make technical sophistication and durability visible through design.
  • Inside, Out: Makes complex technology more accessible through visible construction details such as seams, straps, zips and replaceable covers.
  • Hyper Presence: Responds to digital overstimulation through tactile materials, including natural fibres, rough surfaces, folds and patina.

The trends are intended to support product development, retail planning and interior design by highlighting visible performance, understandable construction and tangible material quality.

Architect and designer Patricia Urquiola will contribute her own pieces to the Trend Space presentation, continuing material research from previous Heimtextil editions. The display will include new works and further developments of existing ideas, with Alcova serving as curator.
