Heimtextil 2027 New Talent Area to Feature Emerging Textile Designers and Materials

More than 30 young designers and creative projects from across Europe, Asia and North America to showcase textile innovations and market-ready products
The New Talent Area, curated by Jennifer Castoldi of Trendease International, will return for its second edition at Heimtextil 2027, featuring more than 30 participants from different countries. The curated area will present textile designs, materials and products spanning experimental concepts, sustainability, circularity, heritage, craftsmanship and practical applications.
Heimtextil 2027 will take place from 12 to 15 January 2027 in Frankfurt. The New Talent Area will be located in Hall 4.2, with many participants making their international trade-fair debut.
New Talent Area Expands for 2027
The New Talent Area was introduced at Heimtextil 2026 and returns with a larger group of participants for its second edition. According to the organisers, institutions and sponsors are also increasing their involvement to support emerging designers and creatives as they develop industry and market connections.
The projects presented will range from experimental material and design concepts to finished products suitable for retail or practical applications.
The participating projects address areas including bio-based materials, circularity, sustainability, neurodiversity, heritage and craftsmanship.
More than 30 participants registered so far are from Canada, China, Denmark, England, Germany, Norway, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland and Wales.
Returning Designers Join New Talents Plus
Two participants from the 2026 edition will return in 2027 under the New Talents Plus label.
They include Elis Blackwood, whose studio e.L.s designs focuses on contemporary textile art and surface design, and Severina Seidl, an artist, designer and hand embroiderer.
The New Talents Plus format provides returning participants with an opportunity to continue developing industry contacts and networks beyond their initial appearance at the trade fair.
Scottish Folklore Inspires Textile Wallpaper Collection
Among the new participants is Hallie Graham, presenting Tales of Lost Wonder, a collection of hand-printed textile wallpapers inspired by Scottish folklore and mythology.
The collection uses techniques including devoré, discharge dyeing and reactive dyeing. Graham combines these handcrafted processes with digital design applications to develop the designs into products intended for the market.
Cascavel Explores Therapeutic and Historical Patterns
Cascavel, an emerging creative agency, will present work based on three complementary approaches.
Its scientific branch works with research partners to explore patterns with potential therapeutic properties, including designs intended to have a positive effect on blood pressure.
The studio's historical approach involves restoring and digitising its collection of 60,000 rare books, which are used as source material for new designs with narrative elements. Its third area of work focuses on contemporary handcrafted collections developed through trend research.
FibreLab Focuses on Textile Waste Recycling
London-based start-up FibreLab will showcase approaches to textile recycling developed with companies across the United Kingdom.
At Heimtextil 2027, the company will highlight a paper material developed in-house using 100 per cent recycled textile waste. The material is designed for applications including marketing and packaging.
Heimtextil 2027 will bring these emerging designers, material developers and creative projects together from 12 to 15 January 2027, giving visitors an opportunity to explore textile concepts ranging from handcrafted design and cultural heritage to recycling and material development.
