Samuel Gerber, Head of Textile Technology at Heberlein since 2020, leads a team that collectively holds more than 150 years of experience. “Buyers demand yarn quality specifications that are clearly defined by their textile technologists. We are the competent partner for yarn producers and eager to accept this kind of challenge for our customers when they face limited resources or a lack of expertise,” Gerber explains. He also adds, “Some customers might wish to reproduce a specific yarn, but a sample is all they have. At Heberlein, we actually like this kind of challenge, and we won’t stop until we find a way to make exactly the same yarn – or a very close alternative – as profitably as possible.”

Gerber frequently offers guided tours of the facility, showcasing the lab's ability to solve complex production challenges. Heberlein excels in helping yarn producers meet market-specific product demands by converting these challenges into practical, sustainable, and efficient production advice—firmly establishing technical support as a cornerstone of the company's offering.

A significant service offered by Heberlein is on-site performance validation. Service technicians visit spinning mills equipped with test jets to determine the optimal fit for a customer’s application. Trials may result in lower energy use without compromising quality or enhancing yarn properties such as strength, knot count, or uniformity—all while maintaining air consumption. This hands-on approach is highly appreciated by Heberlein's clients.

The Textile Technology Centre also plays a key role in product innovation. It facilitates trials for product development, such as the APe series for DTY yarns. “We run trials with APe, our latest DTY series, achieving significant air savings for the customer’s application,” says Gerber. The collaborative environment between Heberlein’s R&D team, laboratory experts, and clients lays the foundation for validated, high-performing product innovations.

Heberlein’s test lab is equipped with air interlacing, air covering, and air texturizing machines from top manufacturers, allowing for full-scale process simulations. Clients can observe, participate, and gain practical insights to replicate improvements in their own mills. Yarn testing is another vital service—customers receive machine settings, photographic reports, and in some cases, fabric samples or bobbins for internal assessment. These support services directly enhance yarn quality, process stability, and profitability, while minimizing claim risks.
