Grasim Industries Invests ₹2,880 Crore to Raise Stake in Aditya Birla Capital

Stake in Aditya Birla Capital rises to 52.30% following participation in preferential share issue

The transaction raised Grasim Industries' stake in Aditya Birla Capital to 52.30 per cent from 52.27 per cent, according to a regulatory filing by Aditya Birla Capital.

Grasim Acquires Additional Equity Shares

As part of the preferential allotment, Grasim was allotted 8.09 crore equity shares of Aditya Birla Capital at a price of ₹356 per share. The issue price included a premium of ₹346 per share.

Aditya Birla Capital operates as a non-banking financial company and reported a consolidated turnover of ₹45,509 crore in FY26.

Shareholding Increase Through Preferential Issue

The preferential issue enabled Grasim Industries to marginally increase its ownership in the financial services company. Following the allotment, its shareholding rose by 0.03 percentage points to 52.30 per cent.

Aditya Birla Capital reported a consolidated turnover of ₹40,590 crore in FY25 and ₹33,941 crore in FY24.

Other Allotments in the Issue

Under the same preferential allotment, Aditya Birla Capital allotted 56.18 lakh equity shares to Suryaja Investments Pte Ltd, Singapore, an Aditya Birla Group entity and promoter group company, at ₹356 per share. The investment amounted to about ₹200 crore.

International Finance Corporation also acquired approximately 2.58 crore equity shares at ₹356 per share, representing an investment of over ₹919 crore.

As a result of the allotments, the paid-up equity share capital of Aditya Birla Capital increased from ₹2,622 crore to ₹2,734 crore, the company said.
