Grasim Industries Introduces Raysileco: A Breakthrough in Sustainable and Traceable Fashion Yarns

Grasim Industries, through its Cellulosic Fashion Yarn division, has unveiled Raysileco, a next-generation innovation under its renowned Raysil brand. This newly launched viscose filament yarn (VFY) combines sustainability with end-to-end traceability, redefining standards in the global textile industry. Derived from wood pulp sourced exclusively from responsibly managed and certified forests, Raysileco prioritises both environmental stewardship and supply chain transparency. The official launch took place at the 7th edition of the Yarn Expo in Surat, organised by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where the product drew significant attention from industry stakeholders.
A Step Forward in Sustainable Fashion
Introducing the brand at the event, Satyaki Ghosh, CEO of Grasim’s Cellulosic Fashion Yarn business, highlighted the dual focus of the initiative: “Raysileco embodies the spirit of innovation with robust sustainability credentials and advanced traceability technologies. This launch reflects our drive to evolve with dynamic market needs and delivering value where performance, responsibility, and trust converge.” Ghosh further emphasised, “This product not only reinforces our commitment to sustainability and end-to-end traceability but also empowers our value chain partners with confidence to verify and trust every filament they use.”
Traceability Technology at its Core
What sets Raysileco apart is its integration of both physical and digital traceability systems directly into the yarn itself—a pioneering step in yarn manufacturing. The combination of molecular markers with digital trace technologies ensures real-time end-to-end visibility, enabling brands, retailers, and consumers to authenticate the fibre’s origin and journey from raw material to final garment. This technology is further strengthened by Grasim’s collaboration with TextileGenesis™, which provides blockchain-enabled tracking. Using a unique digital token system called Fibercoins™, the yarn is monitored from forest source to retail outlets. This system generates a tamper-proof digital record, enhancing transparency and helping brands meet stringent global sustainability and compliance standards.
Manufacturing Excellence with Global Reach
Raysileco is being produced at Grasim’s advanced facilities in Kalyan (Maharashtra) and Veraval (Gujarat). These locations have been strategically enhanced with smart and scalable manufacturing setups, enabling large-scale production while maintaining eco-aligned practices. As international sustainability obligations become stricter and consumer awareness grows, Raysileco is positioned as a future-ready offering that seamlessly blends innovation with responsibility.
Strengthening Grasim’s Global Leadership
Grasim’s Raysil brand is already recognized worldwide for its diverse viscose filament yarn portfolio. Notably, it remains the only brand globally to provide three distinct technologies in VFY production: Pot Spun Yarn (PSY), Continuous Spun Yarn (CSY), and Spool Spun Yarn (SSY). With the introduction of Raysileco, the company has now set a global benchmark for sustainable manufacturing and supply chain accountability.
Closing Note
Raysileco is more than just a yarn—it is a commitment to innovation, circularity, and transparency in the fashion sector. By merging sustainable sourcing, advanced traceability, and blockchain-driven authenticity, Grasim Industries continues to shape the future of responsible textiles, empowering the fashion ecosystem to move decisively towards a more sustainable tomorrow.
