Apparel Imports – May 2025:
- United States: Imports totaled US$ 5.5 billion, marking an 8% decline year-on-year.
- European Union: Imports stood at US$ 7.2 billion, registering a 4% increase YoY.
- United Kingdom: Saw a sharp 36% rise in apparel imports, amounting to US$ 1.9 billion.
- Japan: Imports climbed 7% YoY to reach US$ 1.6 billion.
Apparel Exports – June 2025:
- China: Maintained its lead with US$ 14.8 billion, up 2% YoY.
- Bangladesh: Exports declined 7%, totaling US$ 2.8 billion.
- India: Held steady at US$ 1.3 billion, showing no change from the previous year.
- Vietnam: Continued its export surge, increasing 18% YoY to US$ 3.3 billion.
Apparel Retail Trends – June 2025:
- US apparel & home furnishing store sales rose 2% compared to June 2024.
- UK apparel stores recorded sales of £4.7 billion, also a 2% increase YoY.
- UK e-commerce clothing sales grew by 2% in Q2 2025 over Q2 2024.
- India’s retail sector saw robust performance with a 10% YoY growth in apparel sales.
US Macroeconomic Indicators – June 2025:
- Inflation edged up to 2.7%.
- Unemployment rate improved slightly to 4.1%, down from 4.2%.
The report reflects both resilience and shifts in global consumer demand, with significant growth observed in UK and Vietnam markets. India's retail market continues to expand, supported by strong domestic demand.
