GJEPC Facilitates Member Exporters’ Participation in Haryana FTA Outreach Programme in Gurugram

Workshop highlights export opportunities under India’s Free Trade Agreements, with a focus on preferential market access and MSME support
The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) facilitated the participation of its member exporters in a state-level workshop on leveraging Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), organised by the Directorate of MSME, Government of Haryana, in Gurugram on 3 November 2026. The programme brought together government officials, industry bodies and exporters to discuss opportunities under India’s FTAs and ways to strengthen export competitiveness.
Workshop focuses on global market opportunities for Haryana
Held at the Grand Hyatt, Gurugram, under the theme ‘Translating India’s Free Trade Agreements into Global Market Opportunities for Haryana’, the workshop examined how Indian businesses can make use of trade agreements to access international markets.
GJEPC’s participation was aimed at strengthening industry engagement with government initiatives and helping its members understand the preferential market access available under India’s various FTAs. For the gem and jewellery sector, these agreements provide opportunities to diversify export destinations, enter new markets and strengthen India’s position in global trade.
GJEPC Chairman highlights opportunities under FTAs
Commenting on the initiative, Shri Kirit Bhansali, Chairman, GJEPC, said:

“India’s Free Trade Agreements open up significant opportunities for Indian exporters to expand their presence in international markets. These agreements, spanning partners including the UAE, Australia, the EFTA nations, the United Kingdom, Oman, New Zealand and the European Union, have transformed the export landscape for our sector. India’s FTA partner countries together import over US$ 55 billion of jewellery annually, and preferential and zero-duty access to these markets places Indian gems and jewellery on a decisively stronger competitive footing.
The key is to understand the benefits available under each agreement and translate preferential market access into actual business. Such outreach programmes are important in helping exporters, particularly MSMEs, understand the procedures, compliance requirements and opportunities available to them. Greater awareness of these agreements can help businesses diversify into new markets, expand their global footprint and strengthen India’s position in global trade.”
Discussions cover market access and export procedures
The programme featured discussions on several areas relevant to exporters, including:
- Opportunities available under India’s Free Trade Agreements
- Preferential market access
- Non-tariff measures
- Export procedures
- Government initiatives supporting exporters, particularly MSMEs
The workshop provided a platform for government representatives, industry bodies and exporters to discuss how businesses can better understand FTA provisions and use them to expand their international trade activities.
