General Mills India, part of General Mills Inc., a U.S.-based Fortune 500 food company, announced the opening of a new manufacturing plant in Nashik, Maharashtra. The facility represents an expansion of the company’s manufacturing operations in India and underlines its long-term focus on the domestic food and bakery market.

The plant, referred to as Nashik Manufacturing Plant – Unit 2, was inaugurated by Ms Becky Crane, Mr Shiva Krishnamurthy, and Balki Radhakrishnan. General Mills has invested approximately INR 100 crore in the project, which becomes its second manufacturing unit in Nashik. The facility has been developed using advanced manufacturing technologies and follows global quality standards, with emphasis on food safety, product quality, and responsible use of resources.

According to the company, the new plant will improve supply chain efficiency by reducing lead times and increasing the availability of Pillsbury products across India. The expanded capacity is intended to support bakeries nationwide by ensuring consistent product supply and supporting sector growth.

The company stated that the project is also expected to contribute to the regional economy. It has generated direct and indirect employment across manufacturing, logistics, and support services, and is anticipated to increase demand for raw materials and allied services from local suppliers in the Nashik region of Maharashtra.

Commenting on the development, Balki Radhakrishnan, Vice President and Managing Director of Global Emerging Markets at General Mills, said: “We're extremely proud to increase the availability of Pillsbury products across the country with the opening of our new plant in Nashik. Since 1999, our Pillsbury brand has been offering delicious, quality and convenient baking mixes in India. This expansion allows us to serve our consumers and bakery partners better, faster, and at greater scale.”

The inauguration event was attended by senior company executives, representatives from the U.S. Consulate in Mumbai, and officials from the Government of Maharashtra. The company stated that the facility reflects its continued engagement with Indian manufacturing and its focus on supporting the evolving bakery and food sector in the country.
