FLUX GmbH Launches IND-MAX DUAL Encoder for Safety-Critical Applications

The new inductive angle encoder integrates two independent encoder systems in one compact housing, supporting redundant position feedback across aerospace, robotics and defence applications.

FLUX GmbH, a high-precision encoder company, has launched the IND-MAX DUAL, the latest addition to its IND-MAX encoder range. The encoder is engineered for applications requiring redundant position feedback and high operational reliability.

The IND-MAX DUAL combines two fully independent encoder systems within a single compact housing, with no shared sensing or electronics. This configuration allows machine builders and system designers to implement redundant feedback architectures while reducing installation space and mechanical complexity compared with using two separate encoders.

Designed for Safety-Critical Applications

The IND-MAX DUAL is an inductive angle encoder available in outer diameters ranging from 125 mm to 300 mm. It is designed for applications where independent, redundant absolute position feedback is essential, including surgical robotics, aerospace systems, autonomous platforms and defence technologies.

Designed for Safety-Critical Applications

By integrating two independent encoder systems into one housing, the product addresses applications that require redundancy without the additional installation space associated with separate encoders.

Compact Design and High Resolution

Like other encoders in the IND-MAX range, the IND-MAX DUAL features a compact, low-profile design, a large bore and resolutions of up to 23 bits.

Its robust housing and wide operating temperature range are intended to support reliable operation in harsh environments, including applications involving high shock levels and space constraints.

FLUX Expands Its IND-MAX Encoder Range

Paul Tutzu, Managing Director at FLUX GmbH, said:

“The IND-MAX series has proven its reliability in demanding environments across a wide range of industries,”

He added:

“With the new DUAL variant, we are expanding the range to offer two independent encoder systems in one compact housing, addressing the demand for redundant position feedback.”

The launch expands FLUX's IND-MAX portfolio with an encoder designed to combine independent position feedback systems in a single unit for safety-critical applications.
