Farm to Foreign Conclave to Spotlight Sustainable & Traceable Textile Value Chains in Mumbai

ASSOCHAM Maharashtra State Council to convene policymakers, industry leaders, farmers and global stakeholders on August 19, 2026.
India’s textile and apparel sector is undergoing a transition as sustainability, traceability, innovation, and responsible manufacturing become increasingly important for global competitiveness. As one of the world’s largest textile producers, the country is focusing on building an integrated value chain that connects farmers, manufacturers, brands, and consumers through environmentally conscious and socially responsible practices.
The Government of India’s 5F Framework – Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign continues to guide this transformation by promoting integration, technology adoption, and global market readiness. Initiatives including the Mission for Cotton Productivity, PM MITRA Parks, and the National Technical Textiles Mission are aimed at strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities while encouraging sustainable production and innovation across the sector.
The sector is also adapting to evolving international sustainability regulations such as the EU Green Deal, Digital Product Passport (DPP), Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and enhanced ESG disclosure requirements, which are reshaping sourcing practices and increasing the focus on transparent supply chains and environmental performance.
Against this backdrop, the ASSOCHAM Maharashtra State Council will host the FARM to FOREIGN CONCLAVE – Advancing India’s 5F Vision for Sustainable & Traceable Textile Value Chains on August 19, 2026, in Mumbai. The event will bring together policymakers, government representatives, textile and apparel manufacturers, farmers’ organisations, exporters, global brands, retailers, technology providers, certification agencies, sustainability experts, financial institutions, and industry leaders.
The conclave will feature discussions across the textile value chain.
The session "From Soil to Sustainable Fibre" will focus on climate-resilient agricultural systems, including regenerative farming, soil health, water efficiency, biodiversity conservation, and traceable fibre production. The discussion will also examine the role of farmers, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), certification bodies, and industry partnerships in supporting sustainable cotton and emerging fibres such as hemp and bamboo.
Another session, "Fibre to Fabric: Scaling Responsible Manufacturing," will examine sustainable processing technologies, green chemistry, energy and water efficiency, digital traceability, chemical management, and internationally recognised sustainability frameworks designed to strengthen manufacturing competitiveness.
The conclave will also host "Design to Lifecycle: Circular Fashion, Consumer Responsibility & Future Retail Trends," focusing on sustainable design, textile recycling, material efficiency, product durability, waste reduction, and the role of EPR and lifecycle transparency in supporting circular fashion.
A fourth session, "Farm to Foreign: Traceability, Global Compliance & Export Readiness," will explore digital supply chains, blockchain-enabled traceability, certification systems, ESG frameworks, and strategies to help MSMEs meet evolving global compliance requirements and improve export readiness.
The event will feature more than 20 speakers, panel discussions, and networking opportunities aimed at encouraging collaboration and innovation across India’s textile value chain while supporting the country's transition towards a sustainable, transparent, and globally competitive textile ecosystem.
