In a significant development for India’s semiconductor ambitions, the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) has formed a strategic alliance with Ireland-based Synopsys International Limited. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed at ESSCI’s New Delhi office, represents a crucial move to tackle the growing talent gap in advanced electronics and chip design sectors.
As part of the collaboration, both organizations will roll out intensive bootcamps, faculty training initiatives, and hackathons designed to bridge the divide between academic education and industry expectations. A major focus of the partnership is the introduction of training programs aligned with national initiatives such as PMKVY, ISM2.0, C2S, and ESDM 2.0, aimed at improving industry readiness among students across India.
The partnership also includes technical integration, where ESSCI will work to reduce skill gaps in semiconductor design and engineering using tools and platforms provided by Synopsys, alongside expert-led interventions. Both entities will jointly deliver advanced deep-tech training and introduce certification programs for participants completing these courses.
Welcoming the partnership, Madhvendra Singh, CEO, ESSCI, stated:
"This collaboration with Synopsys is a cornerstone in our strategy to establish India as a global hub for semiconductor talent. By integrating industry-leading tools and global expertise into our skilling framework, we are ensuring that Indian students are trained on the same platforms used by the world's top chip designers. Our goal is to create a seamless pipeline of 'industry-ready' engineers who can immediately contribute to the nation’s burgeoning ESDM ecosystem."
With India accelerating its semiconductor manufacturing goals, this collaboration between ESSCI and Synopsys is expected to play a key role in building the technical foundation required for the next wave of electronic innovation.
