ESSCI, NIELIT Sign MoU to Expand Skilling in Semiconductors, AI, IoT and Drones
Partnership to develop industry-aligned training, certifications, laboratories and employment-linked opportunities in emerging technologies
The Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) and the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand industry-aligned skilling programmes in semiconductors and emerging technologies. The partnership will cover training and certification in areas including semiconductors, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), drones, embedded systems, Industry 4.0, cybersecurity and electric vehicle electronics.
Focus on Industry-Aligned Technology Skills
ESSCI, a Central Council with industry interfaces, will work to strengthen the alignment between industry requirements and the skills provided to students, professionals and young jobseekers. Under the collaboration, the council will contribute industry-relevant Standards & Qualifications while supporting alignment with the National Skills Qualification Framework and Skill India requirements.
Semiconductor and emerging technology skilling will be a key area of the partnership. NIELIT’s virtual laboratories will be used for fresher skilling and upskilling in semiconductors and new-age technology areas such as AI, IoT and drone technology.
The two organisations also intend to work towards developing advanced laboratories, Centres of Excellence and industry-oriented training facilities.

Apprenticeships and Industry Engagement
The MoU will also facilitate apprenticeships, internships, industrial visits, placements and other industry engagement opportunities. ESSCI will use its industry ecosystem to support participation from companies and other stakeholders in collaborative skill development initiatives.
As part of the partnership, ESSCI and NIELIT will jointly develop new courses, certifications and competency frameworks. The collaboration will also include Training of Trainers, Training of Assessors, faculty development programmes, workshops and awareness initiatives.
The organisations will further collaborate on joint research, workforce studies and knowledge sharing. These activities will support industry-academia collaboration and help identify emerging skill requirements across the electronics and new-age technology sectors.
