Durak Tekstil Enters 2026 with Strong Export-Led Growth Outlook

Despite a challenging global and regional environment, Durak Tekstil closed 2025 by maintaining its profitability, turnover, and production strength. By focusing on export-led growth, capacity expansion, and operational efficiency, the industrial thread manufacturer strengthened its resilience and positioned itself for further international expansion in 2026.
Stable performance amid market volatility
As one of the leading producers of industrial sewing and embroidery threads, Durak Tekstil navigated a difficult 2025 marked by geopolitical uncertainty, trade disruptions, and pressure on the textile sector. The company maintained its turnover in US dollar terms compared to the previous year while increasing capacity and utilisation rates, closing the year with positive momentum.
Exports continued to play a central role in this performance. By increasing the share of exports to approximately 60 per cent of total sales, Durak Tekstil reduced its exposure to local market fluctuations and reinforced its position across international supply chains.
Saadet Oran, Chair of the Board of Directors and second-generation executive, highlighted the importance of reliability during periods of uncertainty. She noted that while the Turkish textile sector faced significant challenges in 2025, Durak Tekstil preserved its turnover levels by expanding its customer base and entering new markets, offsetting volume losses in certain segments.
Efficiency gains and export market expansion
Commenting on global trade conditions, Oran pointed to the impact of ongoing tariff discussions, trade tensions and imbalances between exchange rates, inflation and interest levels. These factors affected both demand and profitability across the sector.
In response, Durak Tekstil relocated its production operations from China to Türkiye in 2025, achieving an estimated 20 per cent efficiency improvement. This shift enhanced cost competitiveness and supported the company’s ability to maintain sales momentum and profitability. Capacity utilisation reached approximately 80 per cent, significantly above the Turkish textile industry average.
Strengthening presence across global markets
With support from the Turquality Brand Support Program, Durak Tekstil has identified strategic target markets across five continents. While maintaining a strong foothold in Europe, the company is intensifying its focus on the United States, where it has established a local entity to deepen market access.
At the same time, Durak Tekstil continues to export from Türkiye to China, even as China remains a major global exporter. Both the number of export destinations and the share of exports in overall sales have increased steadily each year.
Strategic investments and R&D-driven growth
In 2025, the company restructured its operations in China, transitioning from manufacturing to a procurement and marketing function, while consolidating production in Bursa, supported by transferred technologies. Licensing procedures have now been completed for a new production facility planned on a 21-decare site, marking a key step in Durak Tekstil’s long-term investment strategy.
Innovation remains a core focus. Products developed by the in-house R&D team have expanded the company’s portfolio and generated strong market interest. Operating under a “continuous R&D” approach, Durak Tekstil aims to introduce five new products annually.
Expectations for 2026
Looking ahead, Oran expects 2026 to mark a reopening of global export markets. With interest rates projected to decline, consumer demand in Europe and the United States is anticipated to recover, creating opportunities for higher sales volumes.
Durak Tekstil currently serves more than 20 sectors across over 70 countries. Alongside continued growth in high value-added technical threads, the company also anticipates a recovery in the textile and apparel sectors, supporting broader volume growth.
As Durak Tekstil continues to strengthen its position as a globally recognised supplier, the company plans to further enhance brand awareness through local collaborations, supported by its reputation for quality, speed and supply reliability.
