SIMA – AN AUGUST BODY
Established in 1933 at the initiative of 1st Finance Minister of Independent India, Late Sir R.K. Shanmukham Chetty representing the entire textile value chain in South India.
Started with 11 members; now has over 500 members covering all the sectors (fibre to finishing).
Played a key role in developing the textile industry.
Earned goodwill and brand image across the textile value chain in the country and more so with the government; plays a lead role in all policy making bodies
Today, SIMA is the single largest employers’ organization representing the organized textile industry in the world and the only employers’ organization of the textile industry having in-house expertise to advice right from designing the textile project to marketing.
Our Targets
Achieve 50% production capacity in all the sectors at the national level
Facilitate to attract atleast 60% of investment in Southern States
Promote six million new jobs for women
Promote 10 world class integrated textile parks in the Southern States
Achieve 70% share in the national exports of textiles and clothing
Liaise with various institutions and organizations and facilitate to develop world class training centres, R & D centres, testing laboratories, etc.
Bridge the gap in the industry requirements and production of cotton in terms of quantity and quality
