

Punjab Institue of Textile Technology, Amritsar
Established in 1920 by the Punjab Government, the Punjab Institute of Textile Technology, Amritsar (PITT) stands as one of the oldest and most esteemed institutes in India. Operating under the Directorate of Technical Education and Industrial Training (Technical Education Wing), Punjab, and affiliated with the Punjab State Board of Technical Education, Chandigarh, PITT is situated in the sacred city of Amritsar, opposite Guru Nanak Dev University, along the G.T. Road. Spanning approximately 12.5 acres, PITT boasts a meticulously laid out campus with ample facilities. It is conveniently located about four kilometers from the Amritsar Railway Station and six kilometers from the Amritsar Bus Stand. The institute's infrastructure includes workshops for spinning, weaving, mechanical, and carpentry, along with laboratories for inspection and quality control, dyeing and printing, textile designing, and a computer center. Additionally, there are facilities like the Edusat Room, L.R.U.C room, and Communication lab. The institute is well-equipped with furnished classrooms, halls for various activities, and spacious playgrounds. It also features a guest house, staff quarters for class IV employees, and two boys hostels with a capacity to accommodate over one hundred students. All the courses offered by PITT are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), ensuring quality education and industry relevance.
