The Apparel Training & Design Centre (ATDC), operating under the aegis of AEPC, has established itself as India’s largest vocational training network for the apparel sector. With a comprehensive pool of over 500 qualified and experienced faculty members possessing expertise in various critical skill-intensive areas of the textile-apparel value chain, ATDC plays a crucial role in catering to the needs of downstream apparel export and domestic industries.
Since 2010, ATDC has trained over 2,00,000 candidates in entry-level trade courses under the ISDS of MOT, GOI, and about 1 lakh candidates in longer-duration vocational courses since 1996. This training has benefited nearly 1 million family members of the candidates by providing wage employment in apparel units post ATDC-training.
ATDC’s National Placement Cell has facilitated the placement of 60%-70% of candidates in wage employment through state, regional, and national level Rozgar Melas and Meets, with approximately 10%-15% of candidates opting for self-employment.
The center receives direct funding or bridge funding for its training projects from various central and state government departments/agencies and PSUs like the Ministry of Textiles, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, and others.
ATDC has received several accolades for its contributions to vocational training, including the Best Vocational Training Provider awards from ASSOCHAM, Franchise India, and the UK-India Skills Forum Award.
With around 175 ATDCs, including vocational institutes and SMART centers, spread across major apparel clusters in 22 states and 85 cities pan India, ATDC continues to pursue its mission of upgrading the technical skills of the human resources employed in the garment industry, thereby serving as the preferred source for skilled shop floor workforce and professionals in various profiles within the Indian apparel sector.
