DeSL Launchs Digital Product Passport Software Built on PLM for Fashion and Retail Brands

New solution enables brands to create, manage and publish Digital Product Passports using product, supplier, quality and certification data within DeSL PLM
Discover e-Solutions (DeSL), a provider of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions for the fashion, apparel, footwear and retail industries, has announced the launch of its Digital Product Passport (DPP) solution.
The new functionality allows brands to create and publish Digital Product Passports directly from the product, supplier, quality and certification information managed within DeSL PLM.
PLM-Based Digital Product Passports
As Digital Product Passport requirements continue to evolve, brands are required to manage product information, material and supplier data, certifications, quality records and supporting documentation across their supply chains.
DeSL’s approach uses PLM as the foundation for managing and governing this information throughout the product lifecycle.
Instead of creating a separate static record, the platform generates each Digital Product Passport using the latest approved information stored within DeSL PLM. This keeps the information available to consumers, retail partners and other stakeholders connected to the underlying product and supplier records, including version history and approval records.
Data Management and AI Document Intelligence
The solution combines product specifications, material details, supplier information, declarations, inspections and certifications into a single Digital Product Passport.
DeSL’s AI document intelligence can analyze supporting documents, identify required information and expiration dates, and compare documentation with information maintained within the PLM platform. This is intended to provide brands with greater visibility into the source and status of information used in Digital Product Passports.
Colin Marks, CEO of DeSL, said, “Digital Product Passports are fundamentally a data and governance challenge. Brands need to understand where information comes from, how it has been maintained and what evidence supports it. By building DPP capabilities into PLM, that information can be managed as part of the product lifecycle and used to create passports when and where they are needed.”
Flexible Publishing and Phased Implementation
Digital Product Passports can be generated at the appropriate product level and shared through QR codes, portals, retail systems and open APIs.
The platform also allows different information to be displayed for different audiences while remaining connected to the same governed product record.
DeSL said its solution supports a phased implementation approach, enabling brands to first establish product, supplier and compliance data before expanding the information included within Digital Product Passports.
As Digital Product Passport requirements continue to evolve, additional data fields, documentation and certification requirements can be incorporated into the existing framework.
