In a major step toward advancing denim circularity across Asia, Denim Deal has officially launched the Denim Deal India Hub in partnership with the Global Alliance for Textile Sustainability Council (GATS) and Enviu, a global venture builder. This collaboration seeks to boost the adoption of post-consumer recycled (PCR) cotton in denim manufacturing across India and international markets.

The hub’s launch follows an MoU signed between the three partners in May 2025 and marks the expansion of Denim Deal’s mission beyond Europe, where it has successfully aligned brands, suppliers, and recyclers on measurable commitments to circularity.

Addressing a Global Challenge with Scalable Solutions

As one of the largest denim producers globally, India offers both an abundant textile waste stream and a growing domestic market. However, its circular supply chain remains disjointed. The Denim Deal India Hub aims to close this gap by integrating technical expertise, infrastructure, and brand participation under the Denim Deal Certified Recycled Fiber (DDCRF) standard.

  • Denim Deal will provide international expertise, guidelines, and connections to global brands sourcing from India.
  • GATS will take the lead on local operations, mobilizing collectors, sorters, recyclers, and manufacturers.
  • Enviu will spearhead innovation pilots, measure impact, and design scalable business models.

“We’re proud to announce a new milestone for the Denim Deal Foundation: launching our India hub in collaboration with GATS and Enviu. India offers a unique opportunity to lead the way in fashion circularity, with its large market, advanced recycling tech, and strong denim industry. We hope India becomes a global model for sustainability and inspires other countries to follow suit.”
Nicolas Prophte, Board Member, Denim Deal

“Our members across India are already recovering and processing textile waste. The India Hub gives us the structure to scale those efforts and deliver certified recycled materials trusted by international brands.”
Parvinder Singh, Founder, GATS

“At Enviu, we have been working on making post-consumer waste a viable resource. Two critical components of scaling those efforts are - more demand activation and enabling alignment across the textiles value-chain. Through the Denim Deal, we aim to create a common bridge for circularity in the denim industry.”
Devansh Peshin, Regional Program Manager, Enviu

What the Hub Offers

The India Hub creates a collaborative ecosystem for all players in the denim value chain:

  • Brands – gain verified recycled fibers, impact tracking systems, and support to launch circular collections.
  • Recyclers & Mills – receive training, certification pathways, and access to premium global markets.
  • Retailers & Manufacturers – can run pilot projects, develop take-back programs, and experiment with reuse strategies.
  • Technology Providers – offering traceability, digital IDs, and lifecycle assessment (LCA) tools can integrate with the hub for full transparency.

Next Steps

The hub will kick off with a joint campaign, training sessions on PCR cotton for Indian stakeholders, and open calls for pilot projects with brands and suppliers. A comprehensive impact report will be released in mid-2026.
