Cotton Australia announced a new Chair and two new Board members during its Annual General Meeting (AGM), held at the Cotton Collective in Toowoomba.

Leeton-based cotton grower Liz Stott has been elected as the new Chair after serving as Deputy Chair for the past two years. She succeeds Nigel Burnett, who has completed four years as Chair and a total of 12 years on the Board.

Expressing her appreciation, Liz said she was honoured to be elected and extended her gratitude to Nigel for his dedicated service to the Australian cotton industry.

As per the organisation's constitution, three Board positions were declared vacant. The following individuals were elected:

  • Tony Geitz
  • Gavin Dal Broi
  • Robert Dugdale

Before announcing the new appointments, Rob Dugdale, Chair of the Corporate Governance Committee, presented the AGM with the organisation’s financial results.

The meeting recognised and thanked retiring Chair Nigel Burnett for his tireless service, during which he worked alongside three previous Chairs. Outgoing Director Arthur Spellson was also acknowledged for his contributions.

The AGM welcomed Liz Stott as the new Board Chair and introduced Tony Geitz and Gavin Dal Broi as new directors. Tony, now CEO of Northern Cotton Pty, previously served as Australian Managing Director for Louis Dreyfus Company. Gavin is an irrigated grower from the Southern Valleys and also serves as Chair of Rivcott Ginning.

Additionally, the meeting passed a motion to adopt modernising changes to the Cotton Australia constitution.
