CO₂-based Fuels and Chemicals Conference 2027 Opens Call for Abstracts Ahead of April Event in Germany

Hybrid conference in Cologne to focus on Carbon Capture and Utilisation, Power-to-X technologies, CO₂-based fuels, chemicals and sustainable materials

The organisers of the CO₂-based Fuels and Chemicals Conference 2027 have invited abstract submissions for the upcoming conference, which will be held on 21–22 April 2027 in Cologne, Germany. The hybrid event is expected to bring together more than 200 international experts from industry, research and policy.

The conference will focus on recent developments in Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) and Power-to-X technologies, while providing updates on the conversion of CO₂ into fuels, chemicals, polymers and other materials, including alternative proteins. The programme will also examine technological advances, market developments and evolving regulatory frameworks supporting renewable carbon solutions.

Abstract Submission Open Until 16 November 2026

The call for abstracts is open until 16 November 2026. Researchers, technology developers and industry participants are invited to present their latest research findings, industrial applications and technological developments to an international audience.

According to the organisers, the conference provides opportunities for engagement with decision-makers and industry experts working across CCU, green hydrogen, Power-to-X fuels, and CO₂-based chemicals and materials. The event is also intended to encourage collaboration, business development and discussions on policy.

The organisers noted that the conference comes as the European Union's Net-Zero Industry Act recognises CO₂ utilisation as a strategic technology. They also stated that annual production of CO₂-based products now exceeds 1.5 million tonnes and continues to grow, while CO₂ is increasingly being considered an important feedstock for European fuel and chemical production.

Poster Session for Researchers and EU Projects

A dedicated poster pitch session will be organised during the conference, providing researchers and EU projects with an opportunity to present recent findings and engage directly with industry representatives and experts.

The call for posters remains open until 04 April 2027.

Innovation Award to Recognise CCU Technologies

Best CO2 Utilisation 2027 Innovation Award

The conference will also host the Best CO₂ Utilisation 2027 innovation award, sponsored by Yncoris. The award recognises products and technologies in the field of Carbon Capture and Utilisation.

Nominees will be selected by an international expert board, while winners will be chosen through a live audience vote. The award is jointly organised by the nova-Institute and CO₂ Value Europe.

Submissions for the innovation award will be accepted until 1 February 2027.

Exhibition and Sponsorship Opportunities

Alongside the conference programme, a dedicated trade exhibition will provide organisations with an opportunity to showcase products, technologies and services to industry stakeholders, policymakers and business representatives.

The organisers are also offering sponsorship packages designed to increase brand visibility and industry engagement through a range of promotional opportunities.

Further information, including abstract submissions, poster applications, innovation award entries, exhibition bookings and sponsorship details, is available through the conference organisers.
