The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) is set to revolutionize the global stage for Indian apparel brands with their groundbreaking initiative, "Brands of India." This B2B trade show, taking place at the prestigious Dubai World Trade Centre in Hall 6 & 7 from November 27-29, 2023, is supported by the Embassy of India, Dubai Chamber, Dubai Textile Merchants Association, and RGM Group. Recognized as India's largest apparel brands show in the Middle East, "Brands of India" by CMAI aims to unite over 250 top Indian apparel brands on an international platform. Showcasing a diverse range of collections spanning Indian ethnic wear, western wear, and fusion wear across menswear, womenswear, and kidswear categories, this trade show is a first-of-its-kind organized effort. Jayesh Shah, VP of CMAI and Chairman of the Brands of India Committee, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, stating that Indian craftsmanship has been a constant source of inspiration for designers and consumers worldwide. He also noted that Indian apparel brands have been expanding their reach and witnessing increased demand globally. Initially aiming to feature 150 brands, the event has now surpassed expectations with over 250 brands being showcased at Brands of India, thanks to overwhelming industry support. Rajesh Masand, President of CMAI, acknowledged the significant presence of Indian clothing brands in the GCC countries and African markets. He mentioned that Indian apparel exports to these regions stand at approximately $2426 million and $913 million, accounting for a substantial share in total apparel imports. Recognizing the potential for growth in the UAE, Masand added, "The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in the UAE presents unparalleled prospects, propelling the growth of Indian apparel brands in this dynamic market." Rahul Mehta, Chief Mentor of CMAI, stressed the need to establish a platform for the promotion of Indian apparel brands in the global marketplace. He emphasized that Brands of India aligns with the government's "Make in India" and "Atmanirbhar Bharat" initiatives, offering a vital stepping stone for both national and regional apparel brands to explore international opportunities. Brands of India aims to be the ultimate destination for wholesalers, retailers, distributors, importers, and departmental chains from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to connect with leading Indian apparel brands. Participating brands will include renowned names such as Louis Philippe, Soch, Spykar, Indifusion, Gini & Jony, Dollar, Touch, A-La-Mode, Stori, and Satya Fusion. Dubai was specifically chosen for this strategic event due to its exceptional infrastructure, connectivity, free trade zones, and business-friendly policies that make it an optimal epicentre for international trade.
