Circulose & CTA Partner on Lyocell from CIRCULOSE® Pulp

Circulose has entered into a strategic agreement with China Textile Academy Green Fibre (CTA) to enable the production of lyocell fibres using CIRCULOSE® pulp. This partnership marks a key step toward scaling textile-to-textile recycled materials across a broader range of applications.

Lyocell fibres are produced through a solvent-based spinning process and are widely valued for their softness, strength, and sustainability benefits. The process operates in a largely closed-loop system where solvents are recovered and reused, making it one of the most environmentally efficient fibre production methods—especially when combined with recycled feedstock instead of virgin wood pulp.

Through this collaboration, CTA and Circulose will supply brand partners with lyocell fibres in both standard and non-fibrillating grades, produced using CIRCULOSE® pulp.

Limited 2026 Supply, Scaling Planned for 2027

Commercial availability in 2026 will be limited and offered only to selected brands. Companies interested in adoption at scale are encouraged to begin product development discussions ahead of 2027, when production capacity is expected to expand significantly.

In addition to producing lyocell fibres under Circulose’s licensing model, CTA has also committed to purchasing defined volumes of CIRCULOSE® pulp over the coming years. This long-term commitment is intended to strengthen supply chain stability, support continuous material improvement, and accelerate cost efficiency across the recycling ecosystem.

By ensuring consistent demand for recycled pulp, the collaboration aims to support investment in scaling infrastructure and drive broader adoption of circular textile materials across the industry.

Industry Perspective

“Lyocell is a more sensitive process than viscose, making the use of recycled pulp more challenging,” said Jonatan Janmark, CEO of Circulose. “CTA's ability to produce lyocell from CIRCULOSE® is a strong testament to their technical capabilities, as well as the performance of our pulp. We are very pleased to work with CTA to bring this opportunity to our brand partners and are excited by what it means for the broader adoption of circular materials.”
