Chargeurs PCC Sets 46% CO₂ Cut Goal with Bold New ESG Strategy

Chargeurs PCC, a global frontrunner in the manufacturing of fabrics, interlinings, and garment components, has introduced an ambitious new ESG strategy. With a goal to reduce CO₂ emissions by 46% by 2030, the initiative also includes advancing circular product design to cut down water consumption, chemical usage, and microplastic release, while reinforcing biodiversity conservation and social governance via robust supply chain practices. This data-backed plan integrates sustainability efforts across the entire value chain.

GIANLUCA TANZI
Gianluca Tanzi, Chairman and CEO of Chargeurs PCC, emphasized the company’s role in shaping a greener textile future:
“As a global company operating across five continents, we feel the responsibility to lead the transition to a more sustainable future,” he stated. “Our mission is to act as pioneers and game changers, playing a leading role in the transformation of the textile industry. We want to continue innovating, providing our customers with solutions that merge excellence and awareness. This is why we are pursuing a series of real and concrete commitments that will impact not only within our company but also throughout our supply chain, addressing environmental concerns, product innovation, and social responsibility.”

LAINIERE DE PICARDIE - FACTORY
Central to the new ESG roadmap is the company’s targeted CO₂ reduction. Having already achieved an 11% cut in emissions at its historic Lainière de Picardie plant in Péronne by updating its steam systems to hot water and upgrading its machinery, Chargeurs PCC is also working with suppliers since December 2024 to track emissions data throughout its network.
The company’s “Local for Local” principle plays a vital role in this sustainability plan. By promoting regional development, sourcing, and production, this approach helps reduce environmental impact, strengthens local economies, and fosters supply chain transparency.
On the product development side, Chargeurs PCC is scaling its Sustainable 360 collection, which includes certified offerings made from natural, bio-based, and recycled fibers. These products are designed to minimize water usage, chemical processes, and microplastic generation. The firm has reaffirmed its commitment to reducing microplastic pollution across its operations.

zero water
Recent innovations include recyclable 100% monomaterial polyester interlinings and a “Zero Dye Water” product line that eliminates the use of water in dyeing—now available in 19 shades in France. In 2024, the company also conducted a comprehensive water risk assessment at all production sites using the World Resources Institute’s Aqueduct tool to determine focus areas for improvement.
Biodiversity is another cornerstone of Chargeurs PCC’s green mission. The company maintains 75% of its Lainière de Picardie campus as preserved natural space. In 2024, it partnered with WeForest to plant 1,500 trees in Brazil and engaged in ecosystem restoration projects around the globe, including participation in COP16 Biodiversity in Cali.
Social responsibility measures include tightening supply chain audits—with 80% of suppliers having completed SMETA evaluations in 2024—and enhancing raw material transparency through Transaction Certificates (TCs).
One significant initiative from the company’s R&D team is the development of an internal Restricted Substances List (RSL). This voluntary blacklist identifies unsustainable materials, with current compliance at 60% for products and 90% for substances—a first of its kind in the industry and a clear indication of Chargeurs PCC’s leadership in driving sustainable transformation within textiles.
