CareEdge Global Releases Global Economy Update – May 2026

CareEdge Global has released its latest “Global Economy Update – May 2026” report, highlighting the economic impact of the ongoing West Asia crisis, rising global energy prices, and shifting monetary policy trends across major economies.

According to the report, global real GDP growth for 2026 has been revised down to 3.1%, with Middle East economies expected to face the sharpest impact due to disruptions in export routes and energy logistics. Inflation forecasts have also been revised upward across major economies amid higher energy prices and geopolitical uncertainty.

The report notes that governments worldwide are increasingly using fuel tax cuts and targeted subsidies to manage inflationary pressures and support consumers.

In the APAC region, CareEdge Global highlighted emerging price pressures and changing monetary policy stances in economies such as Australia, Singapore, and the Philippines, while India continues to face pressure on capital flows and foreign investments.

The Americas section of the report states that net oil-exporting economies could benefit from elevated energy prices, although inflation risks remain high. The report also warns of a rising probability of El Niño in late 2026, which could impact agricultural productivity and global food inflation.

In Europe, markets are anticipating policy rate hikes as inflation remains above central bank targets, while the European Union is accelerating its “Made in Europe” industrial policy to reduce dependence on Chinese manufacturing.

The Africa section highlights that renewable energy adoption offers only limited protection from global energy shocks, with structural inflation risks and fuel import dependence continuing to affect several economies.

The report also includes updates on CareEdge Global Sovereign Ratings and Corporate Ratings across multiple regions and sectors.
